A 30-year veteran of the marketing game, Randy oversees all sales and marketing, visual design, and coaching efforts with our clients.

What does Kayak Marketing do and how did you start it?

We're on a mission to help you see a return on your website investment. To that end, we work to empower you with when we know. The secret sauce, so to speak. Business strategies, pro-level tools, and expert techniques are standard for Kayak clients. We are located in Calgary Alberta Canada, straddling the line between the Rockies and the Prairies. Kayak Marketing specializes in HubSpot CMS, Objectives-based Onboarding, and Sales & Marketing Coaching.

In July 2023, we launched the DropZone Pro (developer) Theme for HubSpot CMS with a goal of saving clients on the time and cost related to website migrations, redesigns, and custom design & development projects on HubSpot. Now, and into the future.

What was the biggest rock to move on your journey?

In 2011, we shifted away from the traditional agency "done-for-you" model to a "done-with-you" approach. In doing so, something big happened. Hourly rates and project proposals evaporated. What appeared in their place was a collaborative approach to helping clients grow. For some, this meant better job security for their staff. For others, it meant entering new markets or growing their share of an existing market. With the convergence of agency and consultancy models, a significantly improved perception of value – and revenue – arose. We were no longer seen as a vendor, but as a partner. Instead of being viewed as a cost, we are seen as an investment. Switching to an agency-as-consultancy approach created a fundamental shift in the nature of our client relationships, for the better.

What's new at your agency right now?

Thanks to the Covid years, we learned that our team members are happier (and more productive) not having to commute 30-minutes in heavy traffic twice a day. We successfully swapped the drive time for family time, and reading time, and play-with-the-dogs time. In doing so we also proved the saying that happy people are indeed, productive people.


In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge that we live, work and play on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 Region of Southern Alberta.
